hello i love your design and think its epic, im holding a snowboard design competition if you want to participate.here are the details IF you want to enter. *must say break3 at the bottom of the snowboard. *any design possible. *put the snowboard under break3 snowboard design competition. thanks!
You really should get in contact with someone about designing for their boards! I've seen things like this on boards and it looks pretty kickarse, and this definitely does. The colour scheme is right on, too. Nice!
popsicle sticks with elaborate designs on them...? Reading that, reminds me of the ones with flinstone character on them; they were delicious...mmm. Thank you! It's always interesting to know peoples first impression of my work
I'm glad ya like it! About time I made that mech board design, huh? I actually sent this to a contest though, and weather or not I win, they might still might like to work with me. I think I'll see the results around febuary
Also, the... tails? On the top side of the board. While they give the eye something to focus on, they seem to have no origin or purpose. I don't think they should have been completely omitted, but instead I think that they could have been better implemented. perhaps in a sort of pinstripe manner? Mmm, though that doesn't seem to fit the other side of the design. Maybe they should be removed, and the totenkopf made bolder and shifted downward. Though that would still leave quite a bit of white space.
Thank you for taking the time to clarify. I really appreciate it. I agree with the lines being cleaner, definitely. The darkening of the logos and the tail-like things seem to reflect personal design preference rather than possible improvement on the subtle theme I was aiming for. "Though that would still leave quite a bit of white space.", suggests you don't have a taste for the off-balance approach in general. That is the very approach I was aiming for, which is why your suggestions would work against that for the most part. You're opinion really brings up an interesting discussion.
Mmm, I do like designs to be "off-balance" sometimes, and this seems fitting. Having the focus off-center makes it more interesting than having the focus set in the middle. That's why I suggested that the totenkopf be moved towards the bottom to replace the tails, which may or may not leave an obscene amount of white space on the rest of the deck.
Regardless, you're welcome, and I understand that my preferences may be quite different from your own.
Yes, I realize that. Thus why I didn't say more. xD
I'm also not entirely sure what else it could use or what seems missing. It just seems a little plain, however, and needs something to make it pop.
Perhaps that's in part due to the fact that it looks like a pencil sketch, rather than having clean, bold, precise lines. I think maybe if you would have brought out the totenkopf logos a little more - made them darker - then this may have been more visually stunning.
Of course, the scratchy, dirty, darkness of the design is part of what makes it so cool. But I still think you might have been better off cleaning it up to add a "POP" to the design, and then going back to shade it and add some grittiness and texture.
